The Coats RC-55 Rim Clamp Tire Changer with RC Robo-Arm is a professional tire-changing machine designed for passenger-car and light-truck service. Combining the proven Coats Rim Clamp® design with a compact footprint, swing-away mount/demount arm, built-in bead-seating system, and RC Robo-Arm® helper device, the RC-55 is well suited for general repair shops, tire centers, dealerships, and automotive service facilities.
The RC-55 is designed to handle a broad range of common OEM wheel and tire fitments while providing additional assistance for challenging low-profile and run-flat tires.
RC Robo-Arm Helper System
One of the defining features of the RC-55 is the integrated RC Robo-Arm
The helper arm applies direct pressure to the tire bead, helping push and hold the bead in the wheel’s drop center during mounting. This gives technicians additional control when servicing stiff-sidewall, low-profile, and run-flat tires that can be difficult to mount using a conventional tire changer alone.
Coats Rim Clamp System
The RC-55 uses a proven four-clamp, air-cylinder-operated rim-clamping system to securely hold compatible wheels during tire mounting and demounting.
It accommodates external rim diameters from 6 to 24 inches, providing useful coverage for passenger-car and light-truck applications.
Swing-Away Mount/Demount Arm
The manual swing-away arm provides convenient access to the wheel while maintaining a straightforward and durable design.
A Coats Duckhead® mount/demount tool guides the tire bead over the rim during removal and helps guide the bead back into position when installing a tire.
Built-In Bead-Seating System
The RC-55 incorporates built-in bead-sealing jets with approximately 3.4 gallons of air volume stored in the tower.
The system delivers air through the tabletop to assist with quickly establishing a seal between the tire bead and wheel during inflation.
Foot-Controlled Bead Loosener
A foot-operated bead-loosening system allows technicians to separate the tire bead from the wheel before mounting or demounting.
The bead loosener accommodates wheel/tire assemblies up to approximately 10.5 inches wide.
Large Tire Capacity
Despite its compact shop footprint, the RC-55 can accommodate tires measuring up to 50 inches in overall diameter.
The combination of a 24-inch external rim capacity and 50-inch maximum tire diameter makes it suitable for a wide variety of passenger-car and compatible light-truck applications.
Electric or Air-Powered Configurations
The RC-55 is offered in two drive configurations to accommodate different shop setups.
